What I did today

Decided I had better move my lazy butt and get some things done for the craft show I have coming up in June, thank goodness they changed it from early May as I sure wouldn't have been ready for then! Having looked at so many pretty blogs out there I seem to be leaning towards those sort of colourings with things I am making now, I just hope they go here.

The first two pics are done by decoupaging serviettes, really quick and easy, [as long as you don't glue the serviette to your fingers first!] The pic in the frame is another from my favourite book. I love the saying about the Prince, brought tears to my eyes when I first saw it.
The birdhouse is yet another atempt to paint roses, keep on trying, these are so so, but still not happy with them. Hopefully someone will like them.

This was a gold frame I had hanging around, painted it cream and sanded it back a little, some pretty scrapbooking paper and sweet Mary Elizabeth in the centre, the more I look at this one the more I think she may have to stay here and live with me.
That's my lot for today, I really need to get a move on if I want to have a decent amount come June, seems there's always something else to do, or another blog to look at!

Another project on the go

Yesterday after my painting class.................

And here's what I'm doing...see anything yet?

My friend dragged me to our local second hand/antiques store,
where I picked up these plates, and a few others. Apparently we are going to be doing mosaics with them! She saw something at a craft show on the wekend and wants to try it. Guess it can go along with the other twenty five things I am trying out! At least the plates look pretty anyway, almost too pretty to break up! And does anyone know it there's a way to break them where you want them to break or is it just pot luck?

Am also in the middle of painting up little wooden blocks, you know the kind with words spelt out on them, think my darling dad has cut me out about 300 of them!!! Guess I need to get back to it!

My Favourite book

I thought I would share this, my very favourite book, with you, some years ago my mum got it for me in the Red Cross Shop she works in [a thrift shop] 50 cents was the grand price! It was first printed in 1930, this edition in 1933, the pages are all aged and yellow, and inside the book is filled with tales of "Important People" [Children]

What I found quite amazing was the following quote, obviously written around 1930,

"I suppose the modern child, though it is blamed as being bad at concentration and too fond of amusement, would seem very bright and clever to the child of a generation or two ago. Personally I don't put this down to any changes in children but to a change in educational methods and also in general life."

Ring any bells? Maybe things don't change so much after all!

Also inside, some of the most beautiful drawings of children, some done with just a few pencil strokes, some much more detailed, I have photocopied several of them onto parchment paper and framed them, I just love looking at them and often go through the book over and over just looking at those faces!

Is this not the cutest little face? She is definitly one of my very favourites, her name is Mary Elizabeth.

These two especially for Smooch, who has a thing for Monkeys.

This picture always reminds me of a photo of me and my sister and two brothers at the beach, 1965, have just added it here, that's me on the left, not really the same, but there's just something about it.

There are lots more beautiful pics in the book but it's time for me to head out the door, off to my painting class today.

Right, well I managed to stuff that up already!!! What I intended was...for my blog to be called Mozzis musings, and for my first post to be titled

Bossy Britches Smoochie Lips said................

and then the post follow on from there! Of course that's not how it worked and now it looks dumb, but that's the price you pay for making me do one when I don't know how!

And I forgot to even try and add the picture before I sent it whizzing off into cyber space, so maybe we will try that now!

Okay, figured that bit out, now to see if I can make the rest of it look pretty! If it's not, you'll know I couldn't! At least when you come here to visit me you will feel so much better about your own computer skills!

Write something at your blog so we can answer.......

Well, what to write, of course I have gone blank now, this wasn't something I intended to do, I only had to start a blog so that I could reply to every one else's! Didn't think I would have the time or inclination to fill one in about me, then one day my phone rings, and there's a definite American drawl on the other end, giggling away, ringing to tell me off for nagging her in her blog!
I'm sure she only wants me to start one so that she can nag me back when I don't write something everyday!

I don't even know how to set this all up so am hoping it does it on it's own! And how to tell you it's here? Well, hopefully I will work it out.

So, what's been happening here, Easter Sunday was lovely, big Family day of course, too much food, lots of chocolate and kids everywhere, just as I love it! It was quite warm, in fact some of the eggs the " Easter Bunny" hid in the garden for the kids Egg Hunt were squishy little brown blobs by the time they found them!
Today is even warmer, so much for Autumn, think we are expecting 29 today, that's about mid 80s the other side of the world!

Now, to this photo thing, let's see if I can work that out, I think, [hope] I have changed the size of one, it's a new stand I bought for my dining room, had a great big 66 drawer unit behind the dining table and while I LOVE it, it does take up a lot of room and really isn't practical where it was, so am in the throes of moving it into the family room, need to finish sanding off all the years of muck that were on it when I got it a few years back, I did the top two rows and the body but then ran out of steam, this time it's not going back inside till it's done! So, I needed something to put the stuff that was on the top of it on and didn't want to take up too much room, found this at a furniture shop on Thursday, picked it up Saturday and there it sits now, I'm really happy with it, what do you think?

Okay, that's your lot for today, will have to hope something exciting happens so I can do another one tomorrow!
