What a Bad Blogger I am!

I just knew that's how I would be, blog like mad for three days and then fade out! Fortunately with so many other wonderful blogs out there it's not the end of the world if mine isn't happening! And I can just about guarantee that after his post there will be a couple more and then I will fade again! But I guess if you check every six weeks or so there should be something new!
Anyway I have been very, very busy, I redid my whole back garden, due to the awful drought we are having here I have given up trying to grow an English cottage garden in an Australian plot of land. I culled and weeded out all the poor little weaklings who were struggling to survie, just left the tough nuts, planted a couple of hardier things around the place and mulched like mad! It actually looks much better, and I will still have all my bulbs popping up in Springtime, but I just have to face defeat when it comes and kicks me in the butt. And it will be much easier to manage....but I don't have any photos here on the computer right now so will take some soon.

Next I decided that a wonderful old drawer unit I brought home 7 years ago, and was going to sand and wax back to it's former glory would finally happen! It has been sitting in our dining room all that time but I decided it really took up too much room and couldn't be seen, so I bought a new shelf to replace it, see blog below, dragged it outside, and started sanding, thankfully my two darlings decided to help me out, otherwise I would still be there now! But it is finally finished and in my family room, all neatly labelled, and filled, with all our booze on top! Nice to have somewhere to keep all that stuff handy, it has always been shoved here and there. And inside are all my magazines, craft, painting, decorating etc, all with their own little label on their drawers!

And that is not the pic I meant to upload but wouldn't you know it, and it took forever!

This is a better one, 66 drawers in all, each one had to be sanded, waxed and polished, the old handles were a coppery colour but even after cleaning they looked dirty and pitted so I sprayed them all a gun metal grey in a hammered finish, they came up really well, as
well as one of those little label holder thingys. It took us two whole days but we finally got it all done, it looks amazing now, it was missing two drawers but my dear old dad made two up for me, it's still missing three or four handles but I can live with that. Anyway, there's no pic of it finished yet! I can't take one at the moment as sitting in front of it is this.............
which has taken me the last four days to paint, for my sil neices baby who turns one at the end of the month, they are giving it to her for her first birthday,
So when I move it in the next couple of days I will take a photo of the unit then.
Other than that, been busy doing things for the craft show I have coming up, some mosaic trays and birdhouses, [well, one birdhouse,] some fake plaster of paris cupcakes, some rose petal cakes....what else? Am sure there must be more but I can't think right now, anyways, everything is half finished so I need to get moving with it this week, I have to go into hospital on May 29th so need everything finished by then......eeeeeeeeek!!! That wasn't in the original plan. Some know I had a lap band fitted 2 and a half years ago, well, it's giving me dramas so have to have it removed and replaced, not the best timing of course, but better now than in a couple of months when it would disrupt my trip to England! So wish me luck.
Okay, I seem to be rambling a bit tonight, think it's past my bedtime, I will try harder in future I promise!

Yeah....she's back!! I'm sorry to hear about your future hospital stay, but I agree, better now then ruin a vacation!
Wow you have that much booze for such a huge chest of drawers? LOL Just kidding. I know you have that much crafting stuff. Either way, I like...I like!
No worries on how often you blog, I've already fallen off the blogwagon a few times myself. Couldn't be helped, life got in the way.
Awww, another cute paint project...you do such a good job.
Take Care,
Mary

Hi Marina, so good to see you back. Now just put that 66 drawer chest in a huge box and send it here---love it. We've been going to antique stores looking for one for my bazillion punches---Nettie has me beat with a gazillion.
I'll be thinking of you on the 29th.
Love the painted chest. Great as usual. Hugs, Pat

G'day Marina...no worries about "falling off the blog wagon"...it's easy to do. I always check everyone elses blogs but don't post on mine as often as I probably should. Gotta love all those drawers for storage in that beautiful cabinet you've got. All the best with your operation. Take care.

You've done a fantastic job with the painting of the roses. The bears are wonderful.
